This solid sterling silver box was produced by Henry Birks & Sons (the "Tiffany of Canada").
It stands 2" tall and is merely under 3 1/2" across at its base. It considers around 175 grams or 5.63 troy ozs. This charming round box rests on 3 legs with paw feet. It is marked on the bottom with Birks Sterling with 3 characteristics of Birks - Canadian National Mark (a Lion's head bordered by a C), a lion passant, and the date letter "S" that represent the London day letter for the year of manufacturing (1953).
The interior is Birks typical blue velour and the interior of the cover is sterling and the outside is perfectly etched in a floral pattern. In the facility, it is engraved with words "Infant".
Terrific disorder with a solid hinge, a snug suitable lid and solid legs.
This is a really fantastic box, very collectible, extremely lovely.
