Location: Burnt River, Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada (2 hours north of Toronto, 2 hours from Toronto Airports)
This comfortable and beautiful 4-season house has all the conveniences of home and is situated by the tranquil Burnt River, about 10 minutes north of Fenelon Falls. Burnt River is a great place to fish. You can fish for bass, perch, pickerel, sunfish and pike right off the private dock. The water is 5 feet deep by the dock and about 20 feet deep at the middle of the river. The house is very private. There is forest in front of the house and also across the river. The interior of the house is open concept with large windows overlooking the river. In the winter months, you can relax by the wood burning stove and enjoy looking at nature from the sunroom. The deck off the living area is a great place for relaxing and sun bathing. There is also a deck by the water where you can sit and relax, watching the river running by and the occasional passing boat.
The Victoria Trail, an abandoned railway route, is nearby where you can hike and bike for many miles. (The trail leads north to Minden and south to Fenelon Falls).
In Fenelon Falls you can buy your groceries from Sobeys; try out the famous Kawartha Dairy ice cream; watch the deepest lock operation in the Trent Severn Waterway system; spend the day at the beach park swimming or playing volleyball; or hike along the Victoria Trails that follows the shores of Cameron Lake. The museum besides the beach park offers historical insights into life in Fenelon Falls and Burnt River during the logging boom. There are numerous fine restaurants in town including the best pizza served on the deck overlooking the falls. You can check out the train station gallery, local library, book store, antique shops to explore the local history. Take a daytime or sunset cruise on the Kawartha Spirit and enjoy the beautiful sights that the Kawartha Lakes offer.
Fenelon Falls Marina offers boat and personal watercraft rentals to explore the many lakes and attractions offered in the Kawartha Lakes.
