The maple rim is fitted with the Special version of the 2010 ring that was developed for the Deering Eagle eleven banjo. This ring was adapted to the Goodtime banjo format and resulted in an affordable banjo that has tone equal to the new banjos I see in the $1500 to $2500 range. Clear and powerful "Bluegrass" tone: expressive "pop" to the trebles; full bass with great note separation. Superb professional quality tone in a low priced and USA made banjo ! The banjo is complete setup with standardaction at 5/64 and head tension tuned to G#. Fret level is carefully checked on each instrument and all of our banjos will leave our shop in fully playablecondition. It is strung with new D’Addario light gaugestrings… but I would be happy to install whatever gauge you prefer and setupaccording to your right hand attack and action expectations.
