1989 / 1990 Paul Reed Smith CE 24
The serial number makes this guitar a 1989 however, the pencil mark under the neck pickup states January 1990.
This leads me to believe the parts are all 1989 but was assembled in the PRS factory in the new year, of 1990.
This guitar was built in the old PRS factory, before they moved to the CNC machines and larger factory, which makes this part of an increasingly rare group of PRS guitars that are highly sought after by collectors and players alike. The headstock has the old style signature and the neck heel is the smaller, pre-factory version.
- Maple Neck
- Rosewood fretboard
- Alder Body (they don't make them like this anymore, which is a shame b/c it sounds amazing)
- Flamed Maple Top (that rivals the tops of the more expensive Customs you see today)
- Original Pickups
- Pots and switch are not original (volume, push/pull tone for split-coil, three-way switch - done professionally)
- Trem arm is included
- Original Hardshell Case (very clean, in excellent condition)
This is an EXCELLENT guitar in good condition for it's age, some bumps here and there around the edges, normal for a guitar that is over 22 years old. There is a surface level scratch and top level ding (not in the wood, just top coat) just below the bridge (not that noticeable, very hard to photograph actually). The neck also has some players wear and is unbelievably comfortable to play. Some people pay money to get their necks relic'ed like this, this one is natural. One of the most comfortable guitar necks I've ever played.
These CE models are becoming extremely collectable. The Customs and Standards from the late 80s and early 90s are getting very pricey, but these CE models are currently at a level where they are still quite affordable (especially compared to what a new PRS costs today)..
I really hate to sell this. I've owned 3 other PRS guitars (1992 CE 24, 1993 Custom 22, and a 2001 Standard 22) and this guitar by far is the most versatile and comfortable guitar of the group.
$1950 OBO takes it. No low-ballers, no tire-kickers (I'm not a store), serious offers only. If you are looking at this ad you already know how great these guitars are.
