The
Role


Our Customer Experience team is searching for
a seasoned product management leader who is inspired by his or her love of
reading and wants to help shape the customer experience across our suite of global
apps and eCommerce experiences. As the Director of Product Management you will
report to the Vice President, Customer Experience and will be a key member of
the product leadership team. The ideal candidate has deep experience working on
consumer-facing eCommerce websites and apps and is passionate about leading a
team who will do right by our customers.

In this role you will manage a team of Product
Owners and Managers. Accountability for their products rolls up to you. You
will regularly work with senior leaders across the company to form product
strategies that will help deliver on Kobo’s acquisition, conversion, retention,
and engagement goals for short and long-term horizons. We have a lot of fierce
competition around the world and you will need to help us stay abreast of what
our competitors’ are up to. Senior leaders at Kobo do not lead from on high.
You will readily dive into the details of a problem and collaborate with all
involved to find the best solution or to validate an idea.

Key
Responsibilities
  • Support the definition of the
    overall product strategy and roadmap to deliver goals for specific products
  • Work with business teams to develop
    and present business cases for new product initiatives and enhancements
  • Track and use data from market
    research, customer research, global sales data, Google Analytics, and product
    analytics to make informed decisions
  • Develop and present operational
    plans in accordance with Kobo’s annual budgeting schedule
  • Help ensure the rest of Kobo knows
    what Product is working on by highlighting upcoming, current, and recently
    launched initiatives on the roadmap
  • Coach and inspire your team to do
    their best work. Help them develop their careers at Kobo and onboard new team
    members
  • Foster a collaborative environment
    and coach the Product team on the practice of product management
  • Work with peers to ensure Product,
    R&D, UX and business teams are collaborating effectively
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience
    working in product management
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience
    directly managing a team of Product Managers or Owners
  • Subject matter expertise in
    Product Management and in consumer-facing mobile applications and products
  • Deep experience building
    cross-platform/multi-platform experiences (Mobile, Desktop, Mobile Web) and
    optimizing those experiences
  • Experience designing products for
    multiple geographic regions and a strong understanding of the unique
    considerations various markets require
  • Demonstrated experience developing
    strategic plans and building alignment around execution plans
  • Exceptional at leading with
    influence and communicating ideas to stakeholders and senior executives
  • Experience working in an Agile
    environment is an asset
  • Expert knowledge of mobile app
    platforms is an asset
