Norval Morrisseau, CENTIMETERS (March 14, 1932-- December 4, 2007), [1] Known as Copper Thunderbird, was an Aboriginal Canadian artist. Referred to as the "Picasso of the North", Morrisseau created jobs portraying the tales of his folks, the social and political stress between indigenous Canadian and European practices, his existential battles, and his deep devoutness and mysticism. His design is characterized by thick black describes and intense shades. He established the Woodlands School of Canadian fine art and was a famous member of the "Indian Team of Seven". [2]
