HP LSI pci-e SAS raid controller card (not pci-x)
Can be installed in any motherboard (AMD or Intel) pci-e 8x or 16x slot.
The card has 256MB cache module installed and has two internal channels. Can control up to 18 drives (SAS and SATA), maximum hd size 2TB
Supports up to 300 megabytes / sec for each drive link, and 2000 megabytes /sec in total bandwidth.
SAS 3Gb drives are supported as well as SAS 6Gb
Supports raid 0, raid 1, no raid, or raid 5
With 1-2 cheap 15K SAS drives leaves no chance to any kind of consumer SATA drives like 10K Raptors
This is enterprise level controller, not cheap consumer end one
